BERN Switzerland

Both rides RACE and RIDE of L'Étape Switzerland 2023 are loops starting and ending up in Bern in front of the famous Bundeshaus, the Swiss Parliament. The riders will be riding by the Gurten while race is still neutralized and then be heading south towards the Alps and the Massiv of Gantrisch. The RACE leads us then to the beautyful Emmental where the legendary "Chuderhüsi" will be waiting for the KOM chasers. After a fast downhill section and another climb the roads will bring the riders back to Bern. Therewhile the shorter RIDE leads through the hilly lands around Münsingen and joins the RACE on the last 15 kilometers in direction of Bern.

Then, passing the Zentrum Paul Klee, all the cyclist will enter the completely closed roads of the Bernese CityLoop. While the RIDE parcours ends at the arrival, we will see the start of a "second race" inside The RACE. The ambitious cyclists will have to complete up to three laps on the CityLoop, each of them 11,33 kilometers long and peppered with 150 meters of climbing..

White Jersey

On L’Etape by Tour de France events, the best rider aged under 25 (male & female) will be awarded the white jersey.

Green Jersey

VALUES : AUDACITY, EXPLOSIVITY AND SPEED

On L’Etape by Tour de France events, one flat section of the route (few hundred meters) will be timed and lead to dedicated classification and offer the best sprinters the chance to win the green jersey.

Polka dot Jersey

VALUES : POWER ENDURANCE, GOING BEYOND YOUR LIMITS

On L’Etape by Tour de France events, majors climbs on the route will be timed and the best climbers will have the chance to win the Polka dot jersey.

VALUES : WELCOME TO BERN

The jersey in the original L’Étape colours has the current Santini design and includes three back pockets. Besides the Santini and L’Étape Switzerland logos, the shirt is decorated with a subtle Swiss cross on the left sleeve, and, as a special feature, the Bernese «skyline» is printed onto the back pockets.
